Prada open
On June 7 the new Prada building opened in Aoyama. Unfortunately, I wasn't there to see it.

Question:
What does "H&deM" stand for ?
by Arne | 06.09.03 @ 04:39 AM
It's herzog & de meuron, the architects of the store. See http://www.designboom.com/closeup/worksinprogress.html

I didn't make it on June 7th but I did drop by on the 8th - it's quite something to behold! The basement is for the Prada Sport line (they even have Prada tools - tape measures, set squares, screwdrivers, etc!), the first floor is mainly shoes and handbags, displayed on intriguing acrylic display cases embedded with fibreoptic cables and lights, then there are several floors of menswear and womenswear. The fifth floor carries vintage Prada - yummy! Also on that floor, they have installed 'waiting rooms' with leather sofas that allow you to rest and look over the city. The interior decor is entirely white and, in spite of only opening two days ago, is already beginning to show scuff marks :-( The clothes racks are covered in brown pony fur. Hard to imagine, but it works! It's my new favourite building in Tokyo :-)

Lil, thank you so much for checking it out and giving me the details. I cannot wait to see it myself.
